Held Projects encapsulates the collaborative work that Poet Hugh Greasley and I make. Recently we conducted research for 'Horarium', an investigation into aspects of monastic life as part of Hyde 900 Project Space. Outcomes took the form of a ceramic tea-bowl imbued with poetry.
The research was part of a wider project that culminated in an exhibition called Æsc - Fringes of Time held between the 7th - 10th September at St.Mary's Church, Ashley, Hampshire. It was also part of Open Heritage days.
Æsc is an exhibition which examines time through a dialogue between a ceramicist and poet. A poem and a vessel can capture a fleeting moment - timeless yet of the now. In the exhibition, porcelain vessels and poems sit quietly in an ancient chapel, the delicate fragility of the ceramics contrasting with the roughly dressed interior of stone and plaster.
